AGM PROCEEDINGS
Sub: Proceedings of the
Annual General Body Meeting of KERF held on 17th December 2002 at CES hall of
Indian Institute of Science.
Events
that conducted were:
a) Winter school "Essentials
in Limnology and GIS" was successfully held in December 2001 at Indian
Institute of Science, Bangalore.
b) Teachers workshop on Environmental Awareness was conducted in Vijaya Teachers College on December 2001.
c) Two day workshop on for children on "Know your ecosystem" was conducted in April 2002 for Children.
d) The "Lake 2002" conference on "Conservation, Restoration of lakes was conducted in December 2002 at Indian Institute of Science.
e)
Preparation of five environment individual modules is continuing and expected to
complete by June / July 2003.
f) "Know your ecosystem" - Environmental Education for school children was conducted in
December 2002
and Dr. Jack Va1entyne popularly known as "Jonny Biosphere"
participated. In all about 10 schools in
and around Bangalore was visited
4. Lake 2003 on lake restoration was conducted successfully on December 2002 at Indian Institute of Science.
5. Adoption of Accounts: Sri. B. N. Rajanna, Hon. Tresurer presented the audited accounts for the year 1999 - 2000 and 2000 - 2001. After brief discussion the audited accounts were adopted. He promised to finalize the accounts for the year 2001-2002 soon. The KERF places on record the services rendered by the auditors M/s. ARU and DEV. Hon. Treasurer also explained about the current status of accounts of KERF.
Membership: The President suggested a directory of all the
members along with the mailing list. Dr. T. V. Ramachandra agreed to help in this regard.
President mentioned that some of the students of Bangalore University who attended the lake 2002 and requested for the membership of KERF at concession rate. After brief discussion it was agreed that the students be offered at Rs. 500/-.
News Letter: The President appreciated the latest News Letter of April 2002 which was brought out by Mr. Joshua David and staff of CES. It was agreed that the next News Letter will be brought by MS. Ruma Chattarji.
It was also decided to issue a Membership Certificate or Identity Card
for all the life members and Dr. T. V. Ramachandra will take necessary action in
the regard.
The next lake 2003 Symposium
is proposed to be held in Beharampur, Orissa.
The President announced the
three awards namely KERF Science Award for Dr. Jack Vallentyne, KERF Award
to Mr. G. S. Paranjyothi and Johnny Biosphere to Ms. N Ahalya.
