Urban growth patterns are characteristic of spatial temporal changes that take place in specific and confined only to particulararea. Urbanisation process is very prominent in more recently emerging cities, such as those in certain locations in India, where the structure of the traditional city is undergoing rapid changes. Mysore is one of the fastest growing traditional regions of Karnataka, India. The spatial and temporal dynamic pattern of the urbanization process ofthe Semi-megalopolitan region is studied. This work compared the spatial and temporal dynamic patternof the urban growth for the five decades in thisregion considering 3km buffer from the city boundary in form. The study indicates the coalescence of urban areas occurredduring the rapid urban growth from 2000 to 2009 and there was a moderate growth during 1980’s and 1990’s.
